The Accra Regional Police Command is looking into John Arthur, a 45-year-old painter from Race Course near Sowutuom, an Accra suburb, for allegedly defiling a kindergarten girl.
On August 28, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the victim, a KG2 student, and her 8-year-old brother were playing around their house when they came across the suspect, seated in front of a shop close to their house.
According to the police, John Arthur allegedly offered the victim’s brother his phone to play a game while carrying the victim onto his laps.
According to police, the suspect defiled the victim while the victim’s brother was focused on the game.
Unbeknownst to the suspect, a neighbour was watching his performance from a safe distance.
He videotaped the entire incident and rushed to the victim’s aid. He also notified the victim’s parents.
The suspect was apprehended by the parents and other neighbours, and a complaint was filed at the Sowutuom Police Station.
Suspect John Arthur denied defiling the victim at the police station.
The investigation is still ongoing, and efforts are being made to bring the suspect to justice.
