The executive has been in charge of the video platform owned by Google since 2014, but will be replaced by Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan.
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki announced her resignation on Thursday, following nine years at the helm of the Google-owned corporation.
Wojcicki announced her departure in a statement to employees, explaining that she wanted to “start a new chapter focused on my family, health, and personal initiatives I’m passionate about.” Her replacement, YouTube’s chief product officer and trusted aide Neal Mohan, will be promoted to the position of senior vice president and CEO.
Wojcicki has said that she would take on an advising position at both YouTube and Google to assist with the changeover.
