This remarkable feat has been partly attributed to the leadership roles played by the leaders of both faiths in consistently educating their adherents on the importance of peaceful coexistence.
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, St. Mary Catholic Church shared photos on its Facebook page showing its Assistant Parish Priest, Rev Father Martin Delali Attitson, joining Muslims in Asamankese to perform Eid-Fitr prayers. The priest was accompanied by some parishioners as they prayed together with Muslim leaders and other faithful.
The photos captured Father Attitson hugging and exchanging pleasantries with some leaders of the Muslim community in the area. The church captioned the photos, “Assistant Parish Priest Joins Muslims In Asamankese To Mark The End Of Eid-Ul-Fitr.”
This show of inter-religious tolerance has sparked positive reactions from Ghanaians, with many applauding the church and the Muslim community for promoting inter-faith tolerance, which serves as an example to the youth that peaceful coexistence is the way forward.
